former CSO, Managing Counsel & Board Committee Member

former Chief Sustainability Officer and Managing Counsel at a US publicly held company/retailer

Michael Levine is a sustainability and circular-commerce advisor focused on helping retailers, brands, and manufacturers transform reverse logistics into scalable sources of cost recovery, margin protection, and customer value. For more than 15 years, he has partnered with executive teams and boards to integrate resale, refurbishment, asset recovery, and post-purchase engagement into commercially viable business strategies.

Most recently serving as Global Chief Sustainability Officer & Managing Counsel at Under Armour, Michael led enterprise programs across 200+ global suppliers connecting returns optimization, responsible sourcing, AI-enabled tracking, and audit remediation directly to inventory recovery and compliance performance. His work spans secondary-market development, circular design standards, regulatory strategy (California Climate Regulations—including the SB 253 / SB 261 disclosure requirements, Extended Producer Responsibility, right-to-repair, modern slavery laws), and assurance-ready ESG data systems—all designed to convert returns from cost centers into value-generating platforms.

Earlier in his career, Michael was a partner at a leading New York City law firm, adding deep governance and risk expertise that continues to shape his practical, compliance-forward approach to sustainability execution.

At NRF Rev, Michael brings a hands-on, cross-functional perspective for operators and finance leaders alike — demonstrating how legally compliant, data-driven circularity can unlock profitability, operational efficiency, and long-term business resilience.
